1. Gogiguksu

Noodles are served in a rich pork bone broth with thick boiled pork slices on top. There are many gogiguksu (pork noodles) restaurants on Noodle Street near Samseonghyeol.

2. Heukdwaeji

Heukdwaeji (black pork) is from the domestic pig that has adapted to the unique climate and natural characteristics of Jeju. The best way to enjoy black pork is to grill the skin-on pork belly or pork shoulder and eat them with salted anchovies. The chewy and juicy meat is genuinely superb.

3. Malgogi

Malgogi (horse meat) has been a premium dish and local specialty of Jeju. The island has been noted for its horse farms from the Goryeo Dynasty, and there are many horse meat restaurants. Horse meat boasts a tender texture and is low in fat. Grilled horse meat or horse meat tartare are the most popular dishes.

4. Galchijorim

Since Jeju’s cutlassfish (galchi) is caught with a fishing pole, its shiny silver color is maintained, which is why the fish is more expensive than other cutlassfish that are caught with fishing nets. Mid-summer to autumn is the best season to catch mature cutlassfish. Sweet and spicy galchijorim (braised cutlassfish) is praiseworthy.

5. Tangerine Chocolates

Records from the Joseon Dynasty say only tangerine sourced from Jeju were used for traditional medicines. Jeju tangerine has a long history of being the most well- known local specialty. Grown in the ideal conditions of the island, Jeju tangerine has a sweet and rich flavor. Tangerine chocolate, boasting the sweet flavor of tangerine, is a popular gift among tourists.
