5 Busan Records

Busan has the world’s largest department store, the world’s only UN cemetery, and a structure with the world’s longest cantilever roof. In October, major festivals are held in Busan, giving visitors an unforgettable experience.

1. THE WORLD’S LARGEST DEPARTMENT STORE RECORDED IN THE 2009 GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS

Shinsegae Department Store – Centum City Branch

It is an urban center (B2–9F) for both shopping and entertainment. You can shop at famous imported brand stores, as well as have fun at Spa Land, Ice Rink and Golf Range, and in the cinema.

2. ONE OF THE THREE MAJOR SKYWALKS IN KOREA

Oryukdo Skywalk

Oryukdo Skywalk is built over the sea, which is unique compared to the other two major skywalks (Uiamho Lake Skywalk in Chuncheon and Byeongbangchi Skywalk in Jeongseon, Gangwon-do). It is thrilling to stand on the U-shaped observatory with a transparent glass floor stretching from the cliff towards the sea, where you can enjoy the open sea view.

3. THE ONLY UN CEMETERY IN THE WORLD

UN Memorial Cemetery In Korea

This cemetery is a burial ground in memory of some 2,300 UN soldiers from 11 countries who sacrificed themselves during the 1950 Korean War. On November 11 at 11 am every year, the Turn Toward Busan event is held to remember the war veterans with a one minute moment of silence.

4. VISITED BY OVER ONE MILLION PEOPLE EVERY YEAR

Busan Fireworks Festival

This fireworks festival takes place in October every year on Gwangalli Beach. The night sky is decorated with mega sized fireworks with the lights shining on the bridge creating a romantic mood. The fireworks can also be enjoyed from Dongbaekseom Island and Igidae Cliff.

5. A GRAND GATHERING OF FILM INDUSTRY PEOPLE FROM AROUND THE WORLD

Busan International Film Festival

This is a major film festival that takes place in October every year. The grand opening is held in Busan Cinema Center in Haeundae, and films are screened in several cinemas including those in Centum City. The outdoor stage at BIFF Village is filled with heat and excitement, as audiences get a chance to meet and talk with actors and actresses.
